Foot Injuries
The foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints and over a hundred muscles, tendons and ligaments. As you can see it is a rather complicated structure. The feet are important in locomotion and for most of us, hold our weight for the whole day. It is important that we maintain a strong base because when our base (feet) have an injury or pain, it can make daily life very complicated and lead to more serious issues if left unattended.
Some of the injuries that we commonly see at Bloor Dufferin Rehabilitation Centre are:
- Heel pain (Bone Spurs or Bruises)
- Plantar fasciitis
- Collapsed arch
- Bunions
- Metatarsalgia
- Achilles bursitis/tendonitis
- Morton’s Syndrome
- Fractures in any of the bones
Some of the ways these symptoms may be treated could be with ultrasound, strengthening exercises, orthotics, manual therapy or with vibration therapy. How we treat you will be based on what your symptoms may be.
