Exercise Programs |
At Bloor Dufferin Rehabilitation Centre, regardless of which services you are seeking you will be given a series of exercises to help promote muscle balance, stretching or strengthening exercises to prevent re-injury. Each person’s exercise program is individualized to improve:
• Range of Motion
• Flexibility
• Strengthening/ Conditioning
• Endurance
By participating in proper exercising a person is more likely to recover quickly, experience less stress and sooner return to activities of daily living. The idea of using exercises in our facility is to educate people to understand that most injuries can be avoided by preventing muscle imbalances and staying fit and active. However in some situations a person can experience muscle atrophy from either being in a cast or from a severe injury. In this case strengthening exercises are key to return a
person to their previous lifestyle.
Some of the techniques we use are:
- McKenzie stretch/ strengthening
- Work hardening
- Targeted muscle stretching/ strengthening
- Biomechanics
- Postural/ Stability Correction
Exercise is good for treating:
- Postural deficiencies
- Strength/flexibility
- Endurance
- Increasing range of motion
- Preventing re-injury
- Biomechanics
- Improving overall attitude/outlook
At Bloor Dufferin Rehabilitation Centre, all exercises are supervised by our kinesiologist. Exercises can take anywhere from 10 minutes to one hour, depending on each case. |
