What is Chiropractic Care?

chiropractic treatments

Chiropractic therapy is a health care profession that emphasizes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system. There is an emphasis on the spine, and that these musculoskeletal conditions affect a person’s nervous system.

Depending on the injury or disorder, there are a few different ways a chiropractor will treat these issues. First they may use manual therapy, where they will use gentle manipulations of the spine to help improve the range of motion and flexibility of the areas causing the problem. Soft tissue techniques or active release along with therapeutic modalities may be used to help speed up healing, break down scar tissue and restore function to the body. Exercises will be perscribed to the patient in order to help relieve tight muscles or strengthen the area, correct muscle imbalances, restore proper biomechanics and prevent these symptoms from returning.

What to expect:
On the first visit you will be asked to fill out a medical history form. This may take 10-15 minutes depending on the severity of the injury/injuries. A physical exam will be performed by the treating chiropractic doctor to determine a diagnosis and cause of the pain.
